Press Release
Spairliners to cease operations currently projected in mid-2027
Shrinking fleets in the core business deprive the basis for continued economic operation
Hamburg-based Spairliners announces resolution to dissolve and orderly wind-down. This decision was made by the two shareholders, Air France S. A. and Lufthansa Technik AG. Founded in 2005, the joint venture has supported the global supply of components for selected aircraft models such as the Airbus A380 and the Embraer E-Jets. However, the continued global decline in the fleet sizes of these aircraft models — particularly within Spairliners’ focus markets — has eroded the basis for a sustainable long-term business perspective. The shareholder’s efforts to expand the portfolio into other directions ultimately did not result in a sustainable long-term business perspective.
Spairliners currently employs 77 people, who have already been informed of the decision. Alternative employment options are being explored with the shareholders. The wind-down of the company is part of an orderly liquidation process. Spairliners is committed to continue performance in accordance with existing contracts and operational planning during the transition until final closure.
